A great condition dial is critical to a vintage watch. If the dial had been re-done or repainted, the value will be greatly reduced. Personally I do not reject re-done dials. But, all parties must be fully informed during a transaction. Selling a re-done dial watch to a buyer without telling the truth is a fraud. By the way, vintage watch buyers should have knowledge to authenticate a dial for self protection.

Red circled areas of photo 1 are the hour markers on dial. This is a critical small detail that can be used to judge whether a dial had been re-done before. For most 36 mm diameter or above Rolex watch , the hour markers are usually in "I" shaped Roman pillar form.  If you see that the hour marker is exactly in "I" shape under a 10X magnifier, 99% that the dial is authentic and had NOT been re-redone. The 1% left is to check whether part of the words had been amended.
