Quick Ways to Analyse Watch Case Condition!

1) Red 1, 2 and 3 show the width of the watch leg. The wider the better the condition

2) There is a light reflection line on top of the red 5 line. It should be a horizontal water level line if it was NOT polished. That line was not deformed. Hence, it is close to or even un-polished. If all the 4 reflection lines on legs are horizontal ==> very good case condition!

4 red circles highlight the junction areas between watch head and the band:

a) the legs and the links are closely and tightly fitted ==> excellent condition

b) the watch leg surfaces are higher tham the two links ==> excellent condition

1) Compare the two legs. Condition of the lower leg definitely is better than the upper leg. Lower leg is fatter than the upper leg

2) Note the reflection line of the upper leg. It was deformed due to polishing. Compare it with the reflection line of photo 1

The dashed lines show the light reflection line. Clearly it was deformed due to polishing

Note the reflection lines of the upper two watch legs. The greater the deviation from horizontal water level, the greater the degree of polishing!

Even the side case hole tells a lot re. the case condition. This will be discussed in the next Blog.
